SCENES, curated by Imagine Science Films and sponsored by Chroma Technology Corp., is a collection of video diptychs created by people around the world. It is a type of film experiment, exploring the relationship between life at a microscopic and macroscopic level.
As a scientist would gather data, filmmakers around the world will use their cameras to make objective records of their environments in visually provocative ways. They will merge conceptual and artistic sensibilities and transform film into a new type of art product that will stand at the intersection of video, photography and painting. The final piece will exist on the walls, frames, television and computer screens of audiences around the world.
For the first edition of SCENES, we are looking for visually stimulating video diptychs that illustrate the microscopic and macroscopic relationship between an object, landscape, or animal.
Films will be selected from submissions and compiled into a collective record of our environments. The final result will be a comprehensive series of video portraits hosted on the Imagine Science Vimeo channel. There, your film will spread into the veins of our ISF community, and distributed to the world in DVD limited collections, as part of ISF gifts for donations.
To Submit
1. Choose a visually provocative scene that you feel strongly about–an ancient tree in your neighborhood, a beetle scurrying underfoot, or a recognizable object that you encounter everyday.
2. Capture your scene on film at the macroscopic and microscopic level and create a visual relationship between your footage in the form of a video diptych.
3. Upload a 10 minute segment of film to your VIMEO account and send the link to scenes@imaginesciencefilms.com
