This holiday season, give thanks to sci-fi with a special film program at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) called Sci-Fi Thanksgiving. Viewers can reflect on technology, the unknown realms of space, and what it means to be human with two classic features: 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris. Stanley Kubrick and Andrei Tarkovsky, respectively, explore science and space with surrealism and meditation. Both films have been considered masterpieces of the directors’ repertoires. 2001: A Space Odyssey in particular, was inspired by the short story The Sentinel, by famed science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke. It has been commended for its scientific accuracy.Check the listing below for BAM’s holiday schedule, or visit their website for a complete listing.
