Sci-Fi Thanksgiving at BAM

  • This holiday season, give thanks to sci-fi with a special film program at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) called Sci-Fi Thanksgiving. Viewers can reflect on technology, the unknown realms of space, and what it means to be human with two classic features: 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris. Stanley Kubrick and Andrei Tarkovsky, respectively, explore science and space with surrealism and meditation. Both films have been considered masterpieces of the directors’ repertoires. 2001: A Space Odyssey in particular, was inspired by the short story The Sentinel, by famed science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke. It has been commended for its scientific accuracy.
